Superette // CT// Weekend Wanderings
I visited one of my local spots in Woodstock, Superette, the other day… Not all too sure why I haven’t been there before, but there I was. We recently moved to Woodstock and we are loving it, so I am making a mission to check all of the local hangs out. Lexi and her friend were down in Cape Town for a visit and I suggested that she go because I had been wanting to check it out and then I got FOMO, so here we are. Haha!
I really like the design of Superette, and I appreciate the open space and beautiful morning light that filters in. This, plus the fact that they serve Deluxe coffee (best in Cape Town IMHO), make for a good start to the morning.
I had a black Americano, OJ, and the breakfast special, which was a breakfast sandwich (I asked for gluten-free and added avo) with eggs, bacon. It was pretty damn good and hit the spot after my late night out, but I will say that the portion size probably could have been doubled. The coffee kind of made up for it.
Lexi opted for the vegan version of breakfast (no eggs and no bacon) and obviously some Deluxe.
Usually with breakfast spots, it is fairly easy to get either paleo/vegan or gluten-free meals by leaving things off or replacing something, so I was pretty happy that this was no different, and they were happy to substitute. The service could be faster, the parking could be easier (especially on a Sat morning), but I will definitely be back for a lazy brunch.
Find them at The Woodstock Exchange at 66 Albert road in Cape Town.
