Milo milkshakes & the best brownies

Let’s just say, it was Friday night and I was simply… in the mood. There’s no judgement here okay, sometimes a girl just overloads with chocolate for no apparent reason. I bring you this post 100% guilt free… Okay maybe like 40%. Not sure if I recommend having both the brownies and the milkshake in the same (10 minute) sitting… I did and I had to curl up on the couch trying not to pass out after.

 
These brownies have been around for a LOOONG while. I got the original recipe from a friend in highschool – but her version involved much less cocoa and a much thinner, chewier end product. Over the years I have perfected the recipe completely (in my, ever so modest, opinion). These guys are chewy, but not too much, soft and gooey, but still crispy on the outside, a tad bit of crunch around the edges with the perfect melt in your mouth middle. And boy are they chocolatey.
For the brownies. The very delectable brownies:
 
1 cup melted butter
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
3 slightly beaten eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla essence
Just less than 1 cup of cocoa
 
*preheat the oven to 180*
 
Mix the sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
Add the flour and mix well.
Add the salt, baking powder, and vanilla essence and mix in nicely.
Now add the eggs. Be careful to fold them in – not beat them in!
Next fold in the cocoa.
Pour/spoon into a greased baking tray (mine is usually about 30cm by 20cm – but this changes with what is available). Bake for 30 minutes.
I usually cut mine as soon as they come out the oven and then leave them to cool – I find it easier on my tray and knife if the brownies are still suuuper soft.

For the Milo milkshake (My absolute favourite!):
Serves 2 
 
1/3 cup Milo
5 scoops ice cream (I had 5 “heaped” tablespoons of ice cream)
1 cup milk
tsp vanilla essence
 
You might wanna add more milo or more milk or more ice cream, depending on how you like your shakes. I am not a fan of the double thick, I like mine so that they come up the straw nice and easy, I also like more chocolate and less sweet, so more milo and milk works best for me!
 
Blend all the ingredients in a smoothie maker or food processor ir blender or the likes, till it is smooth and milkshake-y. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy :D
 
Just writing about this makes me wanna whip up a-whole-nother batch. But, I am actually really sick at the moment, and I bet all that dairy would totally topple my immune system for the worse.
